Sharing the gospel while meeting the physical and spiritual needs of people in Jackson and the surrounding areas

Our local mission strategy includes an initiative called “Calvary Loves Jackson.”  This ministry consists of community outreach teams serving Jackson throughout the year.  The kind of work that needs to be done does not require any special skills, so you don’t have to be a handyman (or woman) to be involved. If you would like to be involved in one of the teams or would like more information, contact us at info@calvaryofjackson.com.

The purpose of this initiative is to show the love of Christ by serving people who have genuine needs, and to share the love of Christ by sharing the Gospel with all of those we come into contact with while doing these projects.  God loves Jackson.  Jesus died for Jackson.  Calvary loves Jackson.

Good News Club (Child Evangelism Fellowship)

Our mission is to demonstrate the love of Christ and share the gospel with the kids at Arlington Elementary School.

Good News Clubs meet for one hour per week in the school’s after-care program.  We follow the JMCSS calendar for holding a club.  The principal will be the one who will select the day of the week for us to meet.  Once our team is trained and prepared (which we are working on), we will give permission forms to the after-care site director to hand out.  Usually, we wait about 2 weeks to get the forms back from the children’s parents.  The volunteers are asked to plan on being at the club from 3:45pm to 5:15pm. We won’t know the exact number of children we will begin with until we the permission forms back.

We need volunteers to help in the actual club and we need Sunday School classes to take on projects for special events

Volunteer responsibilities:

  • Team Coordinator – that is me at this time
  • Bible teacher
  • Bible memory verse teacher
  • Song leader
  • Game leader
  • Leaders who can sit with the children, walk a child to the restroom, take them back to after-care for parental pickup.

We need a minimum of 4 volunteers, because 2 adults must by with the children at all times.  This gives the ability for 2 people to transfer a child(ren) to and from the After-care room and to and from the bathrooms while 2 adults remain with the main group of children.  If one of the 4 leaders is sick, then we would be unable to hold a club that week.

Can you donate 2 hours a week to help share the gospel with local school age children? If so, contact Patti Hale at patti@cefjacksontn.com
