At Calvary, our vision is to connect people to Jesus and his church. To make this vision a reality we believe we must value being gospel-centered, equipped by the Word, devoted to worship, driven by mission, living in community, and enriching families. Centered on the Gospel
We want to be a church centered on the gospel—the message of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. We believe that the gospel is what introduces us to the Christian faith, and that the gospel is what helps us grow in the Christian faith. Without the gospel, we are left dead in our sins and trapped under the weight of legalism. But with the gospel, we are set free from both. Therefore we envision a community of believers centered on the gospel.
Equipped by the Word
We want to be a church equipped by the Word of God. As believers are taught the Bible, they are “equipped for the work of the ministry” (Ephesians 4:12). This is why our pastors and Sunday school teachers are committed to preaching and teaching the Scriptures faithfully. We envision a community of believers equipped by the Word.
Devoted to Worship
We want to be a church devoted to worship. Romans 12:1 says to “present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.” Worship is much more than a gathering or activity. It is our life sacrificially and joyfully given to our Savior for the glory of God. Every aspect of our existence is a part of worship. We envision a community of believers fully devoted to worshipping God.
Driven by Mission
We want to be a church driven by mission. The Lord Jesus Christ has commissioned his followers to “make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19-20). We seek to be on mission both locally and globally, taking the gospel to our neighbors and to the nations. We envision a community driven passionately by this mission.
Living in Community
We want to be a church living in community. The Christian life is not meant to be lived out alone; rather, the individual believer is to live for Jesus in the context of Christian fellowship and community. Together, as the many members of one body, we will move forward to maturity and accomplish our mission. We envision a family of believers living in community with one another.
We want to be a church that enriches families. Healthy family units are vital for the spiritual well-being of both the Christian individual and the church as a whole. We desire to teach and equip in such a way that marriages are strengthened and the parenting task is supplemented. We envision a community in which families are enriched.
