Dear Church Family,

As you know, during the month of February we’ve been studying what the Bible has to say about giving.  I hope these studies have blessed you as much as studying for these sermons has blessed me.  We have truly been given much by the Lord, and it is our privilege to give back to him some of what he’s entrusted to us for the work of the ministry, the advancement of his kingdom, and the spread of his glory throughout the earth.

To conclude our emphasis on giving this month, we’re going to do something we tried last year called “Prove the Tithe Sunday.”  On Sunday morning, March 3, we are encouraging every church member/family to give a tithe in the offering plate.  We’re asking everyone to give 10% of a week’s earnings.  If you normally give monthly, that’s wonderful, but please be willing to break your normal pattern of giving for the sake of this experiment, and give just a week’s earnings this time.  The idea is to do an experiment to see what our budget (for ministries, missions, etc.) could be if all our church members tithed biblically.  Of course, we hope that for many, this will be the beginning of a life-long commitment to regular tithing.

Even if you’ve never tithed before, we’re asking you to try it out on March 3.  I believe that what we’ll find is that when we give according to God’s standards we will be amazed at what happens.  The simple truth is that ministry and mission can only be carried out when God’s people fund it.  I leave you with these powerful words from Malachi 3:10, “Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house.  And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.”

Blessings in Christ,

Pastor Grant
